Pilot transported to hospital after helicopter crash in Jefferson Co.

A pilot was transported to the hospital Friday morning following a helicopter crash in Jefferson Co.

Authorities said the crop duster helicopter crashed into a soybean field about a half mile east of State Road 3 on State Road 256.

The aircraft was spraying two chemicals, an insecticide and a fungicide, on the Jefferson County field before crashing to the ground.

The 35-year-old-pilot, Kevin C. Rossan, was reported to have serious injuries and was transported to the King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Madison, Ind.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County E.M.S., American Red Cross and

Deputy Volunteer Fire Department reported to the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation into what caused the crash.
