One person was killed and two others were injured when an Indiana State University student fired gunshots in a campus parking lot Friday morning.
Campus police said William Mallory, 21, opened fire around 3 a.m. after an argument at the Ballyhoo Tavern, located across the street from the parking lot.
Chief of Police William Mercier, with the Indiana State University Police Department, said 24-year-old Dustin Kelly of Terre Haute was killed in the shootings. Two other Terre Haute men, Dante Pettus and Terrance Trotter, both 21 years old, sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to hospitals.
Mercier said Mallory turned himself into police custody in Indianapolis.
Police believe the argument may have been about a girl, according to preliminary investigation. Authorities said the altercation began in the bar but was moved to the parking lot across the street.
