Pooch Plunge invites dogs to take a swim to help police department

Lafayette-area dogs who love to swim and socialize are invited to the inaugural Pooch Plunge.

The event will take place on August 14 and 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Castaway Bay Aquatic Center located on the corner of S. 9th Street and Beck Lane.

Pooch Plunge is solely for dogs. People are not allowed to swim during the event. The entry fee is $10 for one dog; to bring an additional dog costs $5. Organizers are limiting individuals to a maximum of two dogs.

Proceeds from the event go to the Lafayette Police Department K-9 Program.

You can register by filling out registration forms at the gate. An online registration form is also available on the Lafayette Park’s and Dog Park Association’s website. Dog owners will have to submit proof of rabies vaccination for their dogs. A paper certificate is required.

The Lafayette Parks Department reserves the right to limit the number of individuals who can enter. The event is presented by the Lafayette Park Department and the Dog Park Association of Greater Lafayette.
