President Obama to address mass shooting

President Barack Obama is expected to address the deadly Colorado movie theater shooting Friday morning during a campaign event in Fort Myers, Fla. The shooting killed 12 people and left dozens more wounded during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Colorado.

U.S. Representative Ed Perlmutter, D-Colorado, released a statement. His district includes the area where this shooting took place.

“I am stunned and furious at the news of the shooting at the Aurora Century 16 Movie theater this morning. Our heart and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims of this tragedy. Colorado is not a violent place, but we have some violent people. We are a strong and resilient community, and we will lean on each other in the days, weeks and months to come.

Warner Bros.issued its own statement Friday morning following the deadly shooting.

The company said it’s “deeply saddened to learn about this shocking incident. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time."

A representative forWarner Bros.confirmed that the Paris premiere for the film has been canceled.
