Police say they have arrested one of two men suspected in a homicide that started as a home invasion robbery and ended with the death of a blind man.

20 year old Fidel Vega is behind bars in connection with the shooting death of 35 year old Nathaniel Douglas.

Douglas was killed just inside the door of his home Wednesday morning in the 4600 hundred block of Crestview Avenue. His 19 year old nephew, Adrian Edmonds, was also in the home and suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. He was taken to Wishard hospital but returned home in good condition Wednesday night.

Douglas was legally blind after suffering from complications of diabetes. Neighbors who knew him worry that made him a target.

"The way people are in this city, boy, you just don't stand a chance," said David Allen, a friend and neighbor to Douglas. "You know, they come get you. If they find a weakness they're going to exploit it."

Police say Vega and the other suspect appeared to be after money before opening fire. Officers haven't said what led up to the shooting. If you have any tips on this case call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
