Authorities are still looking for Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul. They asked for the public's help in locating the northwest Indiana physician who's been missing now for almost a week.
The ophthalmologist was last seen alive by her office staff on Monday, March 21st. But after relatives both here and in her native India could not reach her by cell phone and when she did not show up for her morning rounds at an area hospital on Tuesday, co-workers and her family notified police.
Promila Mehta-Paul is about five-feet one-inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.
Highland Indiana police are also assisting with the investigation because of bank video which shows Paul making a night deposit. She was driving her 2001 gold Toyota RAV 4. It's missing too.
The 70-year-old Paul is divorced and lived in Munster alone until recently. That's when one of her three sons relocated from California and was staying at the address.
Investigators did check the eye doctor's residence shortly after her disappearance, only finding the son's 1997 Acura still in the driveway, but missing a California license plate. Detectives are working to get in touch with the son and add Dr Paul's SUV could either have Indiana license plate DW2031 or California license plate 6LHZS319.
Since she has been missing, there has been no activities on either her cellphone or credit cards.
Family, friends and co-workers remain concerned.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
