INDIANAPOLIS - The road to the NHL was opened up for a trio of players for the Indiana Ice this weekend.
Forwards Christobal Nieves and Robbie Baillargeon along with goaltender Jon Gilles were all picked up by NHL teams in the league's annual entry draft this weekend in Pittsburgh.
Nieves was taken 59th overall by the New York Rangers with Gilles going next to the Calgary Flames at pick number 75 while Baillargeon was taken with the 136th pick by the Ottawa Senators.
The trio were apart of the 28 players from the USHL to be taken in the NHL Entry Draft.
A late season aquisition, Nieves finished with two goals and eights assists in the 13 games for the Ice in 2012. Gilles, meanwhile, broke the Ice record with 78 games in goal along with 46 victories and six shutouts.
Baillargeon finished with 14 goals and 34 assists in 54 games for the Ice in 2011-2012.
