Defending Olympic weightlifting champion Matthias Steiner of Germany lost his balance trying to lift roughly 430 pounds in the snatch portion of the weightlifting competition. He was forced to withdraw from the games and was taken to the hospital, but thankfully, he was not seriously hurt.
