CBS' 57 nominations were paced by 17 for "Guiding Light," the most for any individual program. While "As the World Turns" had 16 nominations, it wasn't nominated in the outstanding drama series field, which includes "Light," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "One Life to Live" and "The Young and the Restless."
Joining the "Sesame Street" pack with 12 nods were "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "The Young and the Restless." Scoring 10 nominations apiece were "General Hospital," "One Life to Live" and "The View."
"The View" and "DeGeneres" are up for outstanding talk show along with "Dr. Phil," "The Tyra Banks Show" and "Rachael Ray." Not surprisingly, Phil McGraw, DeGeneres, Banks, Ray and the ladies of "The View" are nominated for outstanding talk show host, along with out-of-left-field nominees Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway of "Soap Talk." Usual nominees Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa ("Live with Regis and Kelly") were absent since they were entered into a new Emmy category for outstanding morning program, the nominees for which will be announced in mid-April.
"Jeopardy," "The Price is Right" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" are nominated in the game show category, along with their hosts Alex Trebek, Bob Barker and Meredith Vieira. Pat Sajak ("Wheel of Fortune") and Ben Bailey ("Cash Cab") are also up for game show hosting honors.
The Daytime Emmy ceremony will be held at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on Friday, June 15.
