Anna Faris will star in "Smiley Face," a new comedy from twisted indie favorite Gregg Araki.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the stoner comedy begins production this week with a supporting cast that includes John Krasinski ("The Office"), John Cho ("Kitchen Confidential") and Jane Lynch ("A Mighty Wind").
Dylan Haggerty wrote the script, which will feature Faris as a slacker whose day becomes an adventure after eating some pot brownies.
"Smiley Face" will mark Araki's follow-up to "Mysterious Skin," the "Doom Generation" and "Splendor" director's most critically admired film.
Faris' 2005 saw her go from "Waiting" to "Brokeback Mountain" to "Just Friends." She's still best known as the star of the "Scary Movie" franchise, which moves into its fourth installment this spring.
