The words "Drew Barrymore" and "thriller" haven't really gone together since the glory days of "Scream" or "Doppelganger," but the romantic-comedy favorite is set to travel down a darker road for "He Loves Me."
According to Variety, the Warner Bros. thriller will be produced by Barrymore and her Flower Films partner Nancy Juvonen, with Ted Tally ("Silence of the Lambs") working on a fresh version of the script.
Tally tells the trade paper that "He Loves Me" is a "taut, sexy thriller about contemporary infidelity, which strongly questions the proposition that what you don't know won't hurt you." Tally failed to go on to explain how that premise will be set apart from the dozens of Lifetime original movies with the same theme.
The first draft of "He Loves Me" was written on spec by Joyce Brotman.
Barrymore, missing from movie screens since "Fever Pitch," has completed work on the Warner Bros. offerings "Music & Lyrics By" and "Lucky You," which will both be released in early 2007.
