Sarah Jessica Parker has exited the intimate thriller "Vacancy" and will be replaced by "Underworld" star Kate Beckinsale.
Directed by Nimrod Atal ("Kontroll"), "Vacancy" focuses on a couple who discover that they're being taped in their motel room. That's annoying, to be sure. It's not nearly as annoying, though, as when they realize that the various videocams are filming them for a snuff film.
Luke Wilson was already in place as the film's male lead, playing opposite Beckinsale now, and Frank Whaley ("Career Opportunities") has been added as the anti-hero, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Does that mean that he's playing the snuff filmmaker? Perhaps.
Parker reportedly left the Screen Gems project for personal reasons.
Beckinsale had a summer hit with "Click," which followed her early 2006 success with the sequel "Underworld: Evolution." Her other recent credits include "The Aviator" and "Van Helsing."Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
