A gay gladiator? That's so 70 BC! ('Spartacus: Blood and Sand')

Hollywood loves to rewrite history and that's especially true when it comes to ancient Rome when gay relationships were the norm. Yet, they're severely underrepresented in Hollywood's portrayals. So, it was probably very educational for viewers when Starz introduced Barca (Antonio Te Maioho), a gladiator with no secrets to hide when it came to his relationship with a male slave. The added bonus? He's just as tough, ruthless and competitive as any man in the arena. -- Jethro Nededog, Zap2it
