Emmy winner Blythe Danner is teaming up with fellow Emmy winner Patricia Arquette for an episode of "Medium."
Danner has signed on to guest-star on the NBC series, which will begin its fifth season in early 2009. She'll be playing the mother of a missing private-duty nurse whom Allison Dubois (Arquette) is helping the police try to locate.
"Continuing a tradition of asking world-class actresses to come join us on 'Medium,' I am thrilled to announce that Blythe Danner will appear in one of the early episodes of season five," executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron says. "I have seen her work at Williamstown, on the Broadway stage, as well as on film and television, and to finally have the opportunity to actually work with her is a real honor for me and an exhilarating treat for the cast."
Danner won back-to-back Emmys in 2005 and '06 for her work on Showtime's "Huff." She was also nominated for her guest role on "Will & Grace" in both of those years. She also has a Tony Award on her trophy shelf and has been nominated several other times. She's currently co-starring in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2."
As was the case last season, "Medium" will premiere at midseason. The show will find the Dubois household returning to a semblance of normalcy, with Allison's psychic abilities out in the open and her consulting job with the Phoenix district attorney's office restored. Husband Joe (Jake Weber) will also get his groove back, starting his own engineering firm.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
