Chris Klein and Jason Biggs, colleagues on "American Pie," will duel for CBS' attention this spring in a pair of comedy pilots.
Klein and Al Madrigal are the latest actors to join the ensemble of "The Captain," about an aspiring filmmaker (Fran Kranz) who moves into an old Hollywood apartment and begins to meet the building's wacky inhabitants.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Klein ("Rollerball") will play the main character's best friend, a financial planner. Madrigal ("The Ortegas") will play the building's doorman, Jesus. Previously announced co-stars include Raquel Welch and Jeffrey Tambor.
Meanwhile, Biggs has scored the lead in CBS' resurrection comedy "I'm in Hell" (not be confused with the network's resurrection drama "Babylon Fields").
That pilot, a late pick-up at the network, focuses on a Wall Street mini-mogul who dies in an accident, but gets sentenced to "hell on Earth" because the real Inferno is full.
Biggs' upcoming features include "The Pleasure of Your Company" and "How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fiancee."
If CBS picked up both comedies and paired them with Alyson Hannigan's "How I Met Your Mother," that could be the next best thing to watching "American Pie 2."
