The latest Oscar winner for best foreign language film, director Susanne Bier's drama focuses on two youths drawn together but having to contend with very different backgrounds.
One is a doctor's son (Markus Rygaard) whose parents are on the verge of splitting up, making his emotions already frayed when he is beset by bullies. A new schoolmate (William Johnk Juels Nielsen) with his own set of troubles comes to the rescue, but more problems - and potentially life-threatening ones - result. DVD extras: audio commentary by Bier and editor Pernille Bech Christensen; deleted scenes; interview with Bier. *** (R: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray)Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
