'In Darkness'

An Oscar nominee for best foreign language film, this fact-inspired drama from director Agnieszka Holland ("Europa, Europa," "Treme") tells the true story of a Polish thief (Robert Wieckiewicz) who uses his knowledge of his city's sewer system to hide a number of Jewish refugees during the Nazi occupation.

He does it strictly for profit at the outset, but over the course of more than a year, he finds a much greater cause in their plight. DVD extras: "making-of" documentary; "An Evening With Agnieszka Holland" featurette. *** (R: AS, N, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray and Movies on Demand)
