'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'

The title has a big link to the Disney studio's history, given the same-named segment of "Fantasia" that starred Mickey Mouse, but Disney's live-action take on the theme has plentiful differences.

Reteamed with "National Treasure" producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub, Nicolas Cage stars as one of this effects-crammed adventure's sorcerers, a wizard who needs help in battling an equally powerful enemy ( Alfred Molina) who wants to take over New York. A bookish teen ( Jay Baruchel, "She's Out of My League") becomes the unlikely apprentice enlisted to assist the forces of good. DVD extras: "making-of" documentary; deleted scenes. *** (PG: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray)
