FOX has set a late-summer premiere for "Anchorwoman," a new series described as "a comedy/reality hybrid."

The series will focus on former beauty queen and WWE diva Lauren Jones' attempt to transition into a local news anchorwoman.

"Anchorwoman" will premiere with an hour-long episode on Tuesday, Aug. 21. Subsequent half-hour episodes will air at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesdays, starting the following week. The mostly unscripted series will presumably help lay the groundwork for FOX's Wednesday night network news comedy "Back to You."

Residents of Tyler, Texas can get something of a sneak peek at the series beginning on Monday (June 11) night, when Jones begins duty as the newest anchor on KYTX Channel 19's 5 p.m. newscast. Self-described as "The Eye of East Texas," KYTX is a local CBS affiliate mired in the depths of a ratings slump, hence station owner Phil Hurley's decision to recruit Jones, despite her absence of news experience.

FOX's release for the series promises that Jones will have ample opportunities for conflict with other KYTX personalities including news director Dan Delgado, reporter Michelle Reese and anchor Annalisa Petraglia. The release makes no mention of how Jones can be expected to interact with KYTX's beloved Stormy The Weather Dog.

In addition to her run with the WWE, Jones' credits include a run as one of Barker's Beauties on "The Price Is Right" and a turn as "Hobo Bikini Model" on "Wonder Showzen."
