According to Variety, Grammer will play Dickens' beloved Christmas-hater in "An American Carol," an indie comedy co-written and directed by David Zucker ("Airplane!," "Scary Movie 4").
Grammer will play a modern Scrooge in the story that's set in the contemporary business of Hollywood.
If the casting sounds familiar, it's probably because Grammer played Scrooge in a 2004 NBC-Hallmark telefilm version of "A Christmas Carol."
Zucker will finance the film with Stephen McEveety, beginning production at the end of February in Los Angeles.
That's bound to make things a bit tight for Grammer, because FOX announced this week that his newsroom sitcom will be returning to production on episodes to premiere in April.
Grammer has "Swing Vote" from Disney opening this summer. The "Frasier" and "Cheers" star was seen on the big screen in "X-Men: The Last Stand."
