The rewards for winning ABC's upcoming "High School Musical" competition show just got a little sweeter.
The network has expanded the prize package for the winner of "High School Musical: Get in the Picture," a contest for aspiring actor-singer-dancers tied to Disney's massive "HSM" franchise. It premieres Sunday, July 20.
Previously, the show's prize was set as a role in a music video that will air over the closing credits of "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," a theatrical release scheduled for the fall. The winner will still get that, but now there's more to the package.
The winner will also receive a contract to record two singles for Disney Records, including a version of the song from the music video, and be signed to a talent holding deal at ABC, meaning he or she could be cast in other shows at the network.
Nick Lachey will host "Get in the Picture," and a group of actors, directors and choreographers will lead contestants through a music camp to help determine the winner. A five-minute preview of the show will air during ABC's broadcast of the Jonas Brothers movie "Camp Rock" on Saturday (June 21).Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
