Jennifer Hudson had never appeared in a film before winning an Oscar for "Dreamgirls," so it's no wonder that she's taking her time choosing her next project.
According to the Hollywood Wiretap website (and confirmed by both industry trade papers), Hudson is trying to find time to appear in the ensemble "Winged Creatures."
In a piece of synchronicity that may prove too perfect to resist, Hudson's character in the drama would be the daughter of fellow newly minted Oscar winner Forest Whitaker.
The cast of "Winged Creatures," an adaptation of Roy Freirich's debut novel novel, is already pretty star-studded. Kate Beckinsale, Guy Pearce, Dakota Fanning, Jackie Earle Haley, Embeth Davidtz and Jeanne Tripplehorn are onboard along with Whitaker.
Directed by Rowan Woods, the film focuses on the survivors of a brutal crime at a restaurant.
Hudson has apparently been circling "Winged Creatures" for a while, but the "American Idol" vet has been hard at work prepping for her first album, scheduled for a fall release from Arista.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
