James Earl Jones Has a Giant Voice

James Earl Jones may be set to take a giant role in the fairy tale feature "Jack and the Beanstalk."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Darth Vader's voice is in talks to lend his pipes to the story's villainous giant, while Katey Sagal ("Married with Children"), Wallace Shawn ("The Princess Bride"), Gilbert Gottfried (stuff) and Chevy Chase ("Fletch") are set to co-star, along with Christopher Lloyd.

Colin Ford plays young Jack, a boy whose concerned mother (Sagal) sends him out to sell the family cow, only to see a pawnbroker (Shawn) give him a handful of magic beans in exchange for the animal. We think you know where the story goes from there.

Gary J. Tunnicliffe is directing the Avalon Family Films production, which was written by Disney direct-to-video-sequel vets Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus. The script allegedly includes a number of winking references to other fairy tales.

An Oscar nominee for "The Great White Hope" (and winner of a pair of Emmys in 1992 for "Gabriel's Fire" and "Heat Wave"), Jones was most recently heard lending his voice to "Click," "Scary Movie 4" and "The Benchwarmers."
