'Arrested' Star Becomes a Dad

Former "Arrested Development" star Jason Bateman has developed into a first-time father.

The actor and his wife Amanda Anka welcomed a baby girl on Saturday (Oct. 28) in Los Angeles, reports People. They named their first child Francesca Nora Bateman, flouting the latest Hollywood trends to go obscure or unusual when naming children.

Bateman and Anka, both 37, had known each other for years before they began dating in 1998. The couple co-starred in the film "Sol Goode" and married in Malibu in July 2001. They currently live in LA.

She is the daughter of singer-songwriter Paul Anka and has appeared in the Jimmy Fallon comedy "Taxi" and the film version "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," along with guest spots on "ER" and "Diagnosis Murder."

Bateman received a Golden Globe in 2005 for his work on the defunct sitcom "Arrested Development" and last appeared on the big-screen in "The Break Up." He next stars opposite Zach Braff and Amanda Peet in the comedy "Fast Track."
