Down the 'Rabbit Hole' for Kidman

Nicole Kidman is expected to produce and star in a big screen version of David Lindsay-Abaire's Tony-winning play "Rabbit Hole."

Cynthia Nixon starred in the original Broadway cast of the play, which focuses on the ways in which a happily married couple deals with the tragic death of their young son.

Kidman's Blossom Films will produce for Fox Searchlight, according to Variety.

Lindsay-Abaire's feature film writing credits include passes on both "Robots" and "The Golden Compass," which co-stars Kidman.

In addition to the first film for Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, Kidman has "The Invasion" and Noah Baumbach's latest on tap.

On the production side, the Fox-based Blossom is developing "Headhunters" with Jez Butterworth, "Bachelorette Party" from Karen Lutz and a thriller from writer Simon Kinberg.
