Fans of "Kyle XY" will have another year to try to figure out just who the prodigiously intelligent but deeply naive teenager really is.
"'Kyle' has thrilled us from its premiere night -- we couldn't be happier to bring it back for a second season," says Paul Lee, president of ABC Family. "Matt Dallas [who plays the title character] is truly a breakout star for us, and 'Kyle XY' is truly a defining show."
Six episodes into its life, "Kyle" has become the most-watched original series ever on ABC Family. It draws about 2.1 million viewers per week, with close to 800,000 of those falling in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Repurposed episodes on ABC have also done fairly well. Airing on Friday nights, the show has averaged 4.6 million viewers, a sizable improvement over the same time period last year. ABC will air all 10 episodes of the show this summer.
Dallas stars in the series as Kyle, who has a savant-like intellect but is as naive about the world as a newborn. After he's found wandering the streets, a psychologist (Marguerite MacIntyre, "The Days") takes him home to live with her family.
The show also stars April Matson ("Quintuplets"), Bruce Thomas and Jean-Luc Bilodeau.
