For the upcoming "Resident Evil: Extinction," the evil may remain the same, but some of the residents are changing.
In addition to the previously announced returning cast members -- including Mila Jovovich, Oded Fehr and Sienna Guillory -- the Screen Gems sequel will now feature Ali Larter, Ashanti and Chris Egan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Larter will play Claire, a character already known to fans of the video game. Written by Paul W.S. Anderson, the plot finds Claire leading a convoy into the desert, where they meet up with the usual assortment of zombie fighters.
The trade says that Egan ("Eragon") will play somebody named Mikey, while Ashanti appears as Nurse Betty, a somewhat delusional woman who comes to believe that characters in her favorite soap opera are real. Oh. Wait. Wrong movie.
The film will begin production in Mexico on Monday (May 15) with Russell Mulcahy ("Highlander") at the helm.
You may recognize Larter from her roles in "Legally Blonde" and "Final Destination," or else you may just recall the whipped cream bikini sequence from "Varsity Blues." She'll next be seen in "Southland Tales."
Ashanti, still better known as a singer, has acted in "Coach Carter" and the upcoming "John Tucker Must Die."
