Dimension Films is looking to bring the popular comic book "Madman" to the big screen with Robert Rodriguez producing.
According to Variety, "Madman" creator Michael Allred will co-write the script with director George Huang ("Swimming With Sharks"). Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios will produce.
The Madman character, who first appeared in 1990, is a hitman who was killed in a car accident but then reanimated by a pair of mad scientists. He returns from the grave with a ton of stitches, some ugly disfigurement and a variety of superpowers. He also has no memory. What he does have is a new name -- Frank Einstein -- and a nifty costume.
"Madman" will shoot at Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Texas and will only add to the busy filmmaker's schedule. Rodriguez is prepping for a sequel to "Sin City" and putting the finishing touches on his "Planet Terror" segment of "Grindhouse." Both projects are also set up at Dimension.
