Matthew McConaughey is opting to exchange his lead acting roles in favor of more behind-the-scenes work on "Exchange Student" -- a comedy concerning two college exchange students who take to their new living situations in two drastically different ways.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is described as a "family comedy with wry overtones a la Wes Anderson."

The project is not yet tied to any studio, but McConaughey's stamp is all over it. From inception, to producing via his own production company, J.K. Livin, McConaughey is handling the show. He may even take a non-lead role.

McConaughey hits the big screen next month in "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." He was last seen in "Tropic Thunder" in 2008.
