Mira Sorvino, who recently celebrated the birth of her child, will soon be stuck in a family tragedy.
The Oscar winner has signed on to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo in "Reservation Road."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she'll play the ex-wife of a man (Ruffalo) who accidentally kills the son of Phoenix's character in a hit-and-run. The grieving dad then turns his eyes to revenge. Jennifer Connelly will play Phoenix's wife.
Terry George ("Hotel Rwanda") will direct, based on a screenplay and the book by Burnham Schwartz. Focus Features and Random House Films will produce the project.
Sorvino, 39, gave birth to her second child, Johnny, in May with husband-actor Chris Backus.
The actress is the daughter of actor Paul Sorvino and won the supporting actress Oscar for 1994's "Mighty Aphrodite." Her credits also include "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" and "Quiz Show."
