Odd couple Mos Def and Mia Farrow are among the latest casting additions to Michel Gondry's Jack Black comedy "Be Kind Rewind."
In addition to the rapper and the "Rosemary's Baby" star, Melonie Diaz and Danny Glover have joined the film, which will begin shooting for New Line in September.
The Gondry-scripted flick features Black as who brain becomes magnetized after an accident at a nuclear power plant. As if that isn't awkward enough, he happens to go into a video store with his magnetized brain, erasing all of the tapes, which is particularly inconvenient for his best friend who works there, as well as for the store's one real customer, a somewhat senile old lady. In order to avoid disappointing the customer, the guy and his friend must recreate and refilm the movies she decides to rent.
Mos Def will play the friend at the video store, according to Variety. Diaz will be a fellow co-worker. The industry trade paper offers no insight into what roles Glover and Farrow will play, nor does Variety mention Kirsten Dunst who was reportedly in negotiations to appear in some capacity.
Recent credits for Mos Def have included "16 Blocks," "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and the HBO telefilms "Lackawanna Blues" and "Something the Lord Made."
Diaz has been seen in "Raising Victor Vargas" and "Lords of Dogtown" with "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" and "Itty Bitty Titty Committee" on tap.
Farrow was last seen in "The Omen," while Glover, currently being heard in "Barnyard," co-stars in the upcoming "Dreamgirls."Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
