Veteran character actor Tim Blake Nelson is the latest quirky thespian to join the cast of Marvel's "Incredible Hulk."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nelson will play Samuel Sterns in "The Incredible Hulk," which will be directed by Louis Leterrier, from a script by Zak Penn.
Multiple Oscar nominee Edward Norton leads the cast as Bruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the law, as well as from the Hulk within. Liv Tyler plays his love Betty Ross, with William Hurt as General Ross, Betty's father and the Hulk's adversary. Tim Roth plays Emil Blonsky/Abomination, the film's main villain.
It's unclear how the franchise reboot will treat Sterns, who Hulk fans know the character as the original form of eventual supervillain The Leader. After being exposed to those pesky gamma rays, Sterns is blessed with tremendous intelligence and power, though cursed with a gigantic head.
Universal has already set the independent Marvel production for a June 13, 2008 release. Nelson's film credits include "Syriana," "Holes" and "O Brother Where Art Thou." He's also directed "The Grey Zone" and "O."
