"He was huge; still is. To me, he was just Tom, but to everybody else, he is huge. But he was lovely to me. And I loved him. I still love him," she says in an interview with Ladies Home Journal.
Now, she's not quite clear if this is love love, sisterly love or "milk of human kindness" love. Regardless, at the time of their breakup, apparently he was feeling a lot less love for her. After a 10-year marriage and two adopted children together, Cruise filed for divorce in February 2001, citing irreconcilable differences.
"I always knew the rug was going to be taken out from underneath me at some stage," Kidman says. "I knew I was going to get hit with something. But I think a divorce, and the demise of what your family is, is a little death in itself."
Despite the "major shock," Kidman eventually moved on and is currently dating Australian country singer Keith Urban. Rumors have been circulating over the last year that the couple plans to wed in a Catholic ceremony this summer (err, technically winter in Australia).
After dumping Kidman, Cruise dated Penelope Cruz, Sofia Vergara and finally Katie Holmes. The former "Dawson's Creek" star became his object of intense affection and they were engaged only a few months after they publicly acknowledged seeing each other. In April, Holmes gave birth to his daughter, Suri.
