Jane Fonda, best actress

“Klute” (1971); “Coming Home” (1978) Though she officially segued from “Barbarella” sex kitten to serious actress with 1969’s “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?,” Fonda didn’t mind baring her breasts on screen in her two best-actress performances. In “Klute,” she’s seen topless as Bree Daniels, a New York prostitute who ends up helping — and sleeping with — a young detective ( Donald Sutherland). And in “Coming Home” (pictured), as a Marine's wife, she also exposes her breasts in a love scene with a paralyzed Vietnam vet ( Jon Voight). Rumors, though, ran rampant that she had a breast double for her more erotic moments in the lovemaking scene.
