Peter O'Toole, Oscar's most beloved and legendary also-ran, may be drawing his next inspiration from populist painting producer Thomas Kinkade.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, O'Toole is in final negotiations to star in "The Christmas Cottage," an new Lionsgate film based on a Kinkade canvas.
Lionsgate has already set the film, which will be directed by Michael Campus, for a mid-December release. The project is said to be partially biographical and would feature O'Toole as Glen Weissler, a painter based on one of Kinkade's mentors.
Although he was the recipient of a lifetime achievement Oscar, O'Toole picked up his eighth career in-competition nomination earlier this year for "Venus." Naturally, the "Lawrence of Arabia" and "King Ralph" star lost.
