We'll concede that there is probably room on the air for at least one singing competition. Probably two, even. But with the influx of so many in 2011, we're getting skeptical that our society can handle as many as are on the air right now. We'll take "American Idol" since it's such a staple, we'll take "The Voice" since the judges are so wonderful. But do we really need "The X Factor," "The Glee Project," "Karaoke Battle USA" and "Majors and Minors" as well? Plus, it pains us to say it since we're such big "Sing-Off" fans, but NBC ruined the show by expanding it to a full season. Nobody likes that much a cappella, not even people who sing a cappella. This could be the beginning of the end for TV's favorite genre.
