Sarah Jessica Parker is joining the cast of "Smart People," replacing Rachel Weiss in the drama.
The "Sex and the City" star will appear opposite Dennis Quid, Thomas Haden Church, Ellen Page and Ashton Holmes in "Smart People," which begins shooting on Nov. 6.
According to Variety, Parker will play a doctor who falls for a professor (Quid, presumably) who has become a bitter man since his wife's death. NorAm Moro is directing from a script by Mark Poirier.
Parker, who won Emmys for producing and starring in HBO's "Sex," most recently appeared on the big screen in "Failure to Launch" and in a Golden Globe nominated turn in "The Family Stone." She had been expected to star in the thriller "Vacancy," but exited the film, with Kate Beckinsale stepping in as a replacement.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
