Mission: Impossible: III Opens Wide: Friday, May 5 Six years have passed since John Woo's "Mission: Impossible II" was released, and this sequel has been shedding directors -- including David Fincher and Joe Carnahan -- and cast members -- including Scarlett Johansson and Kenneth Branagh -- ever since. "Alias" mastermind J.J. Abrams was ultimately the man to bring Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt back to the screen. Although very little is known about the specific plot, the film features Philip Seymour Hoffman as a really unsavory villain. It also promises to go more into personal moments. If Hunt's private life is anything like producer/star Cruise's, it's sure to be exciting. Expect less jumping on couches and more running away from fireballs, though. Joining Cruise is in battle against the forces of evil (or possibly aiding those very same forces) are Laurence Fishburne, Ving Rhames, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Maggie Q, Billy Crudup, Simon Pegg and Abrams' veteran Keri Russell. This will be the first blockbuster of the summer, assuming viewers choose to accept it.
