Pushing Daisies Premieres: Wednesday, Oct. 3 Airs: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. The Pitch: Trust us -- you haven't seen anything like this before. Ned (Lee Pace) can bring dead things back to life with his touch. It helps him in his pie-making business, and in a side gig solving murder cases with a private eye (Chi McBride) and splitting the reward money. Things get complicated, though, when he touches life back into his long-lost childhood sweetheart (Anna Friel) -- because a second touch from Ned would kill her again, for good. What They Got Right: Director Barry Sonnenfeld creates a gorgeous, riotously colorful look for this adult fairy tale, and writer Bryan Fuller populates it with instantly memorable characters. It's maybe the best pilot of this season. What's Oh So Wrong: The narration, by "Harry Potter" audiobook voice Jim Dale, gets a bit too twee at times. But the only real question is whether the show can live up to its pilot's visuals week to week -- and if enough people will want to watch something so out of the ordinary. Recommended If ...: Beautifully executed, wistfully romantic and sometimes bitingly funny television appeals to you.
