The Class Premieres: Monday, Sept. 18 Airs: Mondays at 8 p.m. The Pitch: Hey, remember that time in third grade? Ethan Haas (Jason Ritter), who's throwing an engagement party for his childhood sweetheart, invites his third-grade classmates -- none of whom he's still close to -- to share the moment. The proposal doesn't go so well, but the party sparks several connections between the former classmates. What They Got Right: We like the idea of a sitcom that will follow a number of characters and won't be anchored in a bar, coffee shop or living room. Ritter, the son of John Ritter, has some of his dad's fine timing, and Lizzy Caplan is a nice, acerbic counter to his idealistic character. What's Oh, So Wrong: Even if these kids attended a fairly upscale, suburban elementary school, it's really hard to buy a cast that's so monochromatic -- there's not a minority face among any of the nine regulars. And, while the potential of multiple storylines is there in the future, at the start things feel pretty unfocused. Recommended If: You have the deluxe subscription to Classmates.com.
