Chris Klein and Freddie Prinze Jr. will form a dynamic duo in the comedy "New York City Serenade."
The two leading men will join forces for writer-director-actor Frank Whaley, who based the script on some part of his own life.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film takes place in Manhattan in the mid-1990s and focuses on the friendship between Owen (Prinze), an aspiring filmmaker and his childhood friend Ray (Klein), a drummer.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler ("The Sopranos") is in talks to play the fiance of Prinze's character. In addition, Wallace Shawn will appear as himself.
Prinze was most recently seen in the ABC comedy "Freddie" which, if nothing else, ran for a full season. Husband of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Prinze has also been seen in the "Scooby-Doo" features.
You may have seen Klein this spring in the dark comedy "The Long Weekend" or in the "American Idol"-style satire "American Dreamz," but based on the box office for both films, you probably didn't.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
