Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 4, 2008
NBC got OK ratings for the premiere of "Superstars of Dance" Sunday, but an NFL playoff game gave FOX the night's biggest audience.
CBS and FOX each drew a 7.2 rating/11 share among households, but FOX had about a million more viewers in primetime (because of the live NFL broadcast, FOX's numbers should change some). ABC took third with a 6.4/10, followed by NBC at 4.7/7. The CW managed only a 0.8/1.
FOX also led among adults 18-49 with a 4.6 rating. ABC finished second in the demographic with a 3.5. NBC's 2.7 was good for third. CBS averaged 2.3 and The CW 0.3.
The closing minutes of an NFL wild-card game and the post-game show scored a 14.3/22 for FOX at 7 p.m. CBS earned an 8.1/13 with "60 Minutes." ABC took third with "America's Funniest Home Videos," 4.2/7. The special "Saturday Night Live Sports Extra" put NBC in fourth, still well ahead of "Jericho" on The CW.
CBS led in households at 8 p.m. with "Million Dollar Password" (6.8/10), but ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (6.4/10) had more viewers. FOX got a 4.5/7 from a re-airing of the movie "24: Redemption." NBC's "SNL" special earned a 3.9/6. The CW aired the movie "Trail of the Pink Panther."
"Desperate Housewives," 8.8/13, moved ABC on top at 9 p.m. "Cold Case" delivered a 7.9/12 for CBS. The premiere of "Superstars of Dance" scored a 6.3/9 for NBC. FOX remained in fourth with "24: Redemption," 3.0/5. "Trail of the Pink Panther" concluded on The CW.
At 10 p.m., "Superstars of Dance" posted a 6.1/10, tying "The Unit" on CBS for the lead in households and leading in total viewers. "Brothers & Sisters" drew a 5.9/10 for ABC.
