Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006
Crime paid for CBS Wednesday as the network scored a ratings win on the back of two of its procedural dramas.
CBS averaged a 5.3 rating/9 share for the night, which was a fairly quiet one overall. NBC and ABC tied for second at 3.8/7 (NBC had a small edge in total viewers), and FOX, 3.5/6, came in fourth. The WB and UPN tied for fifth at 1.1/2.
Among adults 18-49, CBS' 2.5 rating was good enough for the top spot. NBC, 2.1, took second, followed by ABC, 2.0, and FOX, 1.8. Neither The WB nor UPN crossed the 1.0 barrier.
An hour of "Most Outrageous Moments" won the 8 p.m. hour for NBC with a 4.3/8. CBS' "Rock Star: Supernova" was right behind at 4.2/7. A repeat of "Bones" earned a 3.7/7 for FOX. Two episodes of "George Lopez" averaged 3.2/6 for ABC. The WB's "Blue Collar TV" and UPN's "America's Next Top Model" tied for fifth.
"Criminal Minds," 5.7/9, moved CBS into the lead at 9 p.m. A second hour of "George Lopez," 3.3/6, tied for second with a rerun of the "Prison Break" season premiere on FOX. NBC got a 3.0/5 from two episodes of "Scrubs." A "One Tree Hill" repeat on The WB did slightly better than "All of Us" and "Half & Half" on UPN.
A "CSI: NY" rerun, 6.0/10, scored the night's best rating for CBS at 10 p.m. ABC's "Primetime: Medical Mysteries," 4.9/8, beat NBC's "Law & Order" rerun, 4.3/7, for second.
