Moreno, Gayheart Get 'Ugly'

Oscar and Emmy winner Rita Moreno will join the growing list of well-known guest stars to appear on "Ugly Betty" come May sweeps.

Moreno has signed to appear on an episode in May, playing a relative of the Suarez family. The show will also feature Rebecca Gayheart ("Vanished") and "Six Feet Under's" Justina Machado; an exact airdate hasn't been set yet.

In the episode, titled "A Tree Grows in Guadalajara," Betty (America Ferrera) and her family travel to Mexico, where they meet up with two long-lost relatives, Aunt Mirta (Moreno) and Cousin Clara (Machado). Gayheart will play a woman whom Alex Meade dated before faking his death and becoming Alexis (Rebecca Romijn).

Moreno won the best supporting actress Oscar in 1962 for "West Side Story" and also has two Emmys to her credit, as well as Tony and Grammy awards. Among her many credits are roles in "Singin' in the Rain," "The King and I," and more recently "Slums of Beverly Hills" and HBO's "Oz."

She has also guest-starred on "George Lopez" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" this season and is currently at work on a drama pilot for CBS.
