Feeding America's continued desire for more comedies about mall cops, Seth Rogen has signed on for the lead in "Observe and Report."
Set up at Warner Bros. through Legendary Pictures, "Observe and Report" will be directed by Jody Hill and will be Rogen's first project after finishing Kevin Smith's "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."
According to the industry trades, Rogen will play Ronnie Barnhardt, the self-important head of a mall security team who gets into a turf war against local cops.
The project should not be confused with Sony's high concept comedy "Mall Cop," in which Kevin James plays a mall security guard trying to stop a gang of thieves. That project is set to begin shooting next month.
Most recently seen in the summer smashes "Knocked Up" and "Superbad," Rogen is hoping for similar success this summer with the comedy "The Pineapple Express." Rogen was recently heard in "The Spiderwick Chronicles" and does another vocal turn in the upcoming "Horton Hears a Who!" and "Kung Fu Panda."Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
