Benicio Del Toro's remake of the Universal classic "The Wolfman" has landed Mark Romanek to direct.
A fall production start is expected for the Andrew Kevin Walker-scripted update of the 1941 Lon Chaney Jr. vehicle. Scott Stuber and Mary Parent are producing for Universal, with Del Toro and Rick Yorn also producing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script maintains the period setting of the original, which finds a man returning to his homeland of Victorian England, where he gets bitten by a wolf and undergoes some unfortunate changes every full moon.
Romanek's feature credits are limited to the creepy Robin Williams vehicle "One Hour Photo," but his music video accomplishments are myriad. Obvious highlights include Johnny Cash's "Hurt," Jay-Z's "99 Problems," Madonna's "Rain" and Michael and Janet Jackson's "Scream."Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
