Veteran character actor Tim Roth has landed a high profile new role and it's an Abomination.
According to media reports, Roth will play Emil Blonsky, whose alter ego Abomination will serve as the rival to Edward Norton's Bruce Banner/Hulk in Marvel and Universal's upcoming "Incredible Hulk" reboot.
Louis Leterrier ("Transporter 2") is directing "The Incredible Hulk," which is being presented as a reimagining of the franchise, rather than a sequel to Ang Lee's "Hulk" feature.
Fans of Hulk mythology know Blonsky as a KGB agent who intentionally becomes exposed to the same gamma radiation that turned Banner into The Hulk. His initial exposure is far greater than Banner's, thus Blonsky's Abomination is even bigger, stronger and greener than Hulk. Of course, Hulk has a few advantages of his own, though we'd hate to spoil them.
In addition to Norton and Roth, the "Incredible Hulk" cast includes Liv Tyler as Betty Ross.
Roth is no stranger to playing the darker side of human nature. His rogue's gallery of villains includes "The Musketeer," "Planet of the Apes" and an Oscar nominated turn in "Rob Roy." Roth will next be seen in Francis Ford Coppola's comeback film "Youth Without Youth" and opposite Naomi Watts in Michael Haneke's remake of "Funny Games."
