Shannen Doherty Lands Grinch, Gay Spy Film

Shannen Doherty is feeling the yuletide spirit along with a healthy dose of espionage.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star will appear in ABC Family's cable film "Christmas Caper" as well as a the feature-length spy thriller "Kiss Me Deadly: A Jacob Keane Assignment" for the here! gay network.

"Caper" revolves around a Grinch-like thief who tries to steal Christmas when she returns to her sleepy suburban hometown. Directed by David Winkler, the movie is expected to be part of ABC Family's annual "25 Days of Christmas" programming.

"Deadly" is the first of what will become a gay spy series for here!

"Queer As Folk" alum Robert Gant stars as the titular Jacob, a photographer who lives with his boyfriend in Milan and his daughter Julia, whom he shares with his lesbian pal Kyra. Jacob gets sucked into the world of international espionage, however, when Marta (Doherty), a woman from his past, reappears in his life. John Rhys-Davies also stars.

Doherty is best known for playing the troubled Brenda Walsh on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and later as a witch on "Charmed." She also appeared in the CBS thriller "Category 7: The End of the World" and starred on the Oxygen series "Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty."

Her big-screen credits include "Heathers," "Almost Dead" and "Mallrats."
