Bush's Burning For 'Hitcher' Remake

With "One Tree Hill" in CW limbo, Sophia Bush is ready to thumb her way to her next job.

The 23-year-old actress could be in place as one of the stars in the upcoming remake of "The Hitcher."

The frequently correct website for Production Weekly is reporting that Bush will play one half of a young couple terrorized by a mysterious hitchhiker. That brief plot summary suggests that the new "Hitcher" script, courtesy of Jake Wade Wall and Eric Brent, deviates at least somewhat from the 1986 cult classic that focused mostly on one young man (C. Thomas Howell) and his unfortunate dealings with the titular psycho (Rutger Hauer).

Music video director Dave Meyers is directing the update, set to begin production in Texas this June. Thus far, Bush is the only actor attached to the project, which will come from Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes shingle.

Bush, best known to "OTH" fans as Brooke, has appeared in the features "Supercross" and "Stay Alive." She's set to co-star in this summer's dark comedy "John Tucker Must Die."
