Hit or Miss? Miss. The original "Dragnet" set the mold for police procedurals on TV, and that was down to producer and star Jack Webb. But things changed between 1951 and 2003 -- a "just the facts, ma'am" approach to cases didn't fly with audiences anymore. The show switched to an ensemble cop drama format in its second season, which made it like every other cop show on TV. It wasn't really "Dragnet" anymore -- and it was yanked off the schedule after only five episodes.
